Tending a melting and holding furnace (dedrossing, furnace cleaning, metal mixing, charging alloys, etc.) requires precision and movement control. Too often this is carried out manually or by a long beam attached to a forklift. This results in damage to furnace lining, reduced lifetime of refractory, steel pollution in the final product, metal spillage, heat loss and unsafe situations in front of the furnace. Hencon offers a safe and state-of-the-art furnace tending vehicle developed with operator assisting technology. Knowing that operators are important for the eff iciency and success of the productionprocess, their feedback has been taken into account in the design of the cabin and vehicle.

FLOATING MODE AND ALLOYING MODE
All of Hencon’s tending vehicles can be equipped with operator assisting technology that will allow perfectly level movement on an optimal skimming speed resulting in less metal loss. The cleaning blades can follow the internal profile of the furnace in order to avoid damage of the lining. The intelligent machine can be switched to alloying mode in order to use the best speed, depth and pattern during the alloying process.
